This upcoming essay....dont think im excited for it!

By the way Mr.Dominguez....so just kidding on the title! :)

Well other than reading Mr.Dominguez post on what to do just sounds so um whats the word ya i have no clue. Its going to be very difficult making my own thesis without really knowing what the prompt is. well shoot here it goes.......

As for the texts i will use 1984 and some other stories that really havent come up to mind yet.
for my thesis i would start by saying how are these so called "people" even think they have emotions? Why are they to be forced with an emotion? Do they even feel that special emotion when they do the nasty anymore?
And what is the defination of being human? Clearly in this novel," The Brave New World" they formed humans by technology, is that still calling those "people" human still or machine like humans?

well i gave it my shot dont think its the best post ive come up with yet but take a gander! :)

  1. I think we all had a hard time coming up with thesis. This is probably because we have so much to say about BNW that limiting ourselves would be a bit disappointing. Then again, it is less work. Just kidding!

Lets see, you want to discuss how the people of BNW believe they have emotion. Well, how do we know that they don't have emotions? Just because their emotions are different from ours doesn't make them emotionless. Even in our world everyone has different definitions for their emotions. Then again, how do we know we have emotions? How do we know what we consider happy is really happy? Is it because we read the dictionary and it defines that is what happy is? If this the reason why, then aren't we forced to believe that when we laugh we're felling happy? Or if we cry then we're sad?

I'm also curious about what it means to be human. What is the difference between different two living creatures? What I'm trying to say is, our differences are obvious. I'm over weight, taller, and etc. But we're still consider humans. Just because we're different from other living creatures why should we categorize ourselves differently?

As far as technology is concerned with "creating" other human beings, I don't feel that they're not human. They come from the human egg and sperm. The only difference is the process of their development. But we cannot disregard the technology used today to have children. Do we consider them human?

You had a lot of insightful questions and ideas. Just remember to ask yourself how and why BNW utilizes such techniques or whatever you decide to argue. Can't wait to ready your essay! :)

  2. You can definitely argue that the people in BNW are or are not people or something to a lesser extent. I mean like, you can instead argue that the people in BNW have a completely horrible definition of love or vice versa. I know for sure that there is evidence for the society or the people being gross like you mentioned in your earlier blogs. You should argue how they seem like this to you and simply use evidence from the book where something you think is inappropriate and the society in BNW thinks it is completely normal. I hope this makes sense and explains how I think you can argue your previous points, if not please ask the questions and I will try to answer them to the best of my ability. Don't worry about getting the overall theme; it just needs to be what you feel most strongly about because that is what is going to allow your argument to be strong. Nice job continuing with your original ideas. All you have to do is connect them. Keep up the good work and you'll have a great thesis.
